Employment Contracts

Why Contracts Matter

Under South African law (BCEA Section 29), every employer must provide written particulars of employment. A proper employment contract protects both you and your employee. Without one, you're vulnerable at the CCMA.

Not having a written contract is one of the most common reasons employers lose at the CCMA. It's not optional — it's a legal requirement.

Available Contract Types

SA Wages Pro generates 8 types of employment contracts, all reviewed for SA legal compliance:

  • Domestic Worker Contract — for household employees (cleaners, nannies, au pairs)
  • General Worker Contract — gardeners, drivers, security, maintenance
  • Farm Worker Contract — agricultural employees
  • Casual Worker Contract — irregular work arrangements
  • Part-Time Worker Contract — regular but reduced hours
  • Fixed-Term Contract — specific project or time period
  • Full-Time Contract — standard permanent employment
  • Learnership Contract — for learnership programmes

How to Generate a Contract

Go to the employee's profile and click "Documents" → "Generate Contract". The contract is pre-filled with the employee's details, pay rate, work schedule, and employment type. Review it, download the PDF, and get both parties to sign.

Need contracts for multiple employees at once? Use the Bulk Contract Generation feature from the Employees page.
