Generate Your First Payslip
3 min read — Updated February 2026
Before You Start
Make sure you've added at least one employee with their pay rate and work schedule. The payslip generator uses this information to calculate everything automatically.
Create the Payslip
- Go to Dashboard → Payslips and click "New Payslip".
- Select the employee and pay period (monthly, fortnightly, or custom date range).
- Enter the days worked and any overtime hours (weekday, Sunday, or public holiday).
- Add any deductions — UIF is calculated automatically. Loans and advances with active balances are shown for you to include.
- Review the calculated totals and click "Generate Payslip".
What Gets Calculated Automatically
SA Wages Pro handles all the maths based on current South African labour law:
- Basic pay based on days worked × daily rate (or hours × hourly rate, or monthly salary)
- Overtime at 1.5× for weekdays, 2× for Sundays and public holidays
- UIF deduction at 1% of gross pay (capped at R17,712/month)
- Loan/advance deductions from active balances
- Net pay after all deductions
